“The Best Ever” Tour Guide – Split, Croatia & Surrounding Areas

We research for weeks in advance of trips in hopes of finding top-notch private guides or group tours in every city, and we really hit the jackpot with Jelena Vrancic. My very discerning architectural conservator hubby who has spent weeks touring historic sites like Egypt, China’s Silk Road, & Athens called Jelena “perhaps the best ever.” I couldn’t agree more: I booked 7 tours for our 21 days along the Adriatic, and our 2 days with Jelena were the only ones that scored perfect marks with both of us, for so many reasons:

Her English is perfect!

Her website (under her full name & beautiful & professional ) is a perfect planning tool and her prompt emails & flexibility while we worked out our timing details was wonderfully reassuring.

She’s so perceptive & flexible on the fly (I call it “emotional intelligence”) about what her clients need/want at any moment. She balanced wonderfully the hubby’s interest in minute architectural detail with mine in culture, economy, current customs & Game of Thrones. We’re 60ish and a tad lazy & she was perceptive & accommodating when we needed to rest, but her energy & fitness level is such that she could move at a pace to please anyone.

Her love for and in-depth knowledge of her country, its music (Klappa rocks!), history, heritage, food, etc. oozes from her. She’s obviously loved back by those she encounters often around Split, and that affection for her meant we were treated like friends in places we visited with her.

Her private tour pricing is beyond reasonable. We booked her for our Split /Diocletian’s Palace introduction as we got off a cruise ship, and again for a Trogir/Salona tour 3 days later. In retrospect, we wish we’d had her with us for all our days in Split.
She’s so smart, fun, considerate & witty that we would have enjoyed her company anywhere, even if she weren’t teaching us about some of the most remarkable sites we’ve ever seen.

We’d used our beloved Rick Steve’s books & videos to plan our trip & even booked a few of his very good recommended tours, but Jelena, who we found on our own, was our best tour guide of three weeks abroad. We wholeheartedly recommend Jelena Vrancic (website under her name) to anyone visiting Split or nearby — whatever your tour wants or needs, she’s flexible and talented enough to make your visit very special.
