HIGHLIGHTS

Explore this UNESCO-listed national park with a local guide. Walk along forest trails and be impressed by breathtaking lakeside views. Cruise across the clear waters of one of the lower lakes in an electric boat. Absorb the scenic surroundings with a panoramic bus or electric train tour. Taste great local food served up in numerous restaurants in the park’s vicinity.

ITINERARY

Located in the mountainous Lika region, halfway between the coast and Croatia’s capital Zagreb, Plitvice Lakes National Park is one of the most visited sites in Croatia. The unity and harmony of 16 lakes and their rare natural and cultural value are a well-known attraction throughout Croatia and worldwide, earning this remarkable national park a deserved spot on  UNESCO’s list of World Heritage sites.

We pick you up from your desired location in Split (choose any address in Split and its vicinity) before embarking on a 2.5-hour journey to Plitvice Lakes National Park. The ride guarantees comfort in a Mercedes V or E-Class vehicle, while minibuses and buses can be arranged for larger groups.

A local guide will meet you at the entrance to the national park upon your arrival. Let us take care of your park tickets, as they need to be purchased in advance, especially during the peak season. You can reimburse us later.

It’s important to note that the guided tour can easily be adapted to your group’s preferences and desired time spent at the park. Begin your Plitvice adventure by walking through the ancient woodlands to Gornja Jezera (Upper Lakes), a system of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. A peaceful boat ride brings you to the second part of the lake called  Donja Jezera (Lower Lakes),  situated in a limestone canyon. Your driver will be waiting for you once your exploration of Plitvice ends. Feel free to stop for lunch to fuel up for your drive back to Split!

Absolutely Amazing!

Jelena is the epitome of excellence! She is very personable, knowledgeable and beyond professional. Her English is impeccable and she is extremely warm, inviting and offers and unforgettable tour of Split. She is passionate about sharing the love of her country, and adds personal touches about its history. She spent the entire day with us and by the end of the tour, it felt as if we were lifelong friends. We began our tour with her meeting us at our cruise ship and we ended with a drink in a local establishment. Here she recommended the names of local dishes for us to try during our visit. I, undoubtedly, recommend booking a tour with Jelena as you will not be disappointed. We are looking forward to our next visit to Split with our children, and will be booking another tour with Jelena.

Wow, Jelena - awesome job!

I’ve worked with personal guides in quite a few cities in Europe and South America, and Jelena has all the right qualities you want in a guide – personable, smart, funny, poised, flexible, and very knowledgeable about recent and ancient history of Croatia/Yugoslavia, local culture, arts, local cuisine, and architecture. On the first day we had a great walking tour of old town Split, including the palace, and visited a unique museum, and finally drove to Trogir to see the small but ancient and well-preserved town, including the fort and Riva. Jelena shared interesting stories dating from the 4th century Roman civilization, and including communist rule and more recent events. She shared personal anecdotes to make the tour memorable, and provided a nice balance of historical information without overwhelming with detail. The second day island tour that Jelena arranged was also really fun, and included great scenery, sightseeing in quaint harbor towns, and world-class beaches…

Private Tour & On The Ground Assistance

I came to Split with a large group (20), and Jelena provided a fantastic amount of help before, during and after our trip with recommendations, reservations, and organizational support. During our visit, she organised a fantastic private tour, and organised some great experiences and visits. She always responded super-quickly, and was by far one of the most professional travel hosts I’ve worked with.
