HIGHLIGHTS
ITINERARY
Your driver and guide will pick you up at your accommodation or the port if you are coming off a cruise ship. It will take around 50 minutes from Split to Krka National Park.
Stroll along the wooden bridges and petite pathways with the sounds of running rapids. Enjoy the walk through the National Park and visit the ethnology museum and watermills. A traditional lunch can be organised at an authentic tavern to taste some of the best Dalmatian delicacies, like the famous Skradin risotto or peka. A peka is a domed iron lid or “bell” used to cover a casserole pot, which is then buried under glowing embers to create a slow-cooking micro-oven. It’s mainly used for cooking lamb or octopus, along with potatoes and other vegetables, with wine, olive oil, and homemade bread to complement your meal. I recommend the family-run Konoba Vinko, though there are other great options in the area, too!

Following Krka National Park, enjoy an overview tour of the eclectic city of Split. At the heart of the city lies the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, built as a ‘retirement home’ for the Roman Emperor Diocletian at the beginning of the 4th century AD. Explore the palace, which still lives and breathes as a fully-functioning place where people live, with shops, hotels and offices within its walls. Don’t miss the sphinxes from Egyptian antiquity on the Peristyle Square and in front of Jupiter’s Temple.
As we walk, you get to know the newer parts of the Old Town that expanded outside the palace’s walls during mediaeval times. Admire beautiful architecture and squares with numerous cafes and restaurants where you can join locals in their favourite pastime activity of sipping coffee.

Such a fantastic experience!
A wonderful easy going day with Jelena has to be the real highlight of our time in Split. We wanted to discover Krka National Park and the city of Split so we opted for Jelena as we already gained a good vibe from her previous reviews. We weren’t disappointed at all! Warm, friendly, informative, down to earth and full of delightful little stories! The perfect resource! Such a lovely person to have with us to shape our memorable day. As soon as we arrived off the ship everything worked like clockwork. Smooth pick-up in a lovely car, fabulous traditional lunch, all perfect timings and really finished off the day feeling our time in Krka and Split with Jelena was the best worthwhile decision. Someone who really loves what she does, knows what people need to hear and makes them feel great. We will certainly tell our friends she’s the one they need – who are already planning their trip to Croatia!

The Best Private Guide in Split
After years of traveling, I have learned that a great guide will turn a good trip into a fantastic trip. If you are able to have a great private guide, your trip will be enhanced far more than if you attempted to see a city and the surroundings independently. This is what Jelena was able to accomplish for us. Jelena was a fantastic private guide. We, two persons, utilized Jelena as a private guide in Split and the surrounding area for two days. In addition, Jelena was able to assist us in arranging safe and reliable private transportation from Split to Dubrovnik. From the first time that I contacted Jelena until the end of our trip, Jelena was professional, friendly, and prompt. Jelena was able to provide interesting and insightful information related to Croatian history and Croatian culture. I can say without hesitation that we enjoyed Split much more with the help of Jelena than if we had toured the area independently…
